The California State Assembly has 80 Members elected to two-year terms. Under the provisions of term limits, each Member may serve a lifetime maximum of six years or three terms. The California State Senate has 40 Members elected to four-year terms. Under the provisions of term limits, each Senator may serve a lifetime maximum of eight years or two terms. Senators' addresses and telephone numbers are available on the Senate Member Roster . Senators are assigned to various committees to review bills and policies according to subject area. Legislative Directory The CCC prepared Legislative Directory is available as a PDF file that can be printed out on legal-sized paper in the landscape position and photocopied front/back and folded in half two times. It can then be used as a brochure for distribution. The directory is published in March following an election year. California's Budget The CCC lobbies for a just budget as well as legislation that reflects these priorities. For analysis of proposed annual budgets, the CCC staff uses the in-depth information and analysis provided by the California Budget Project (CBP), which, according to their web site, "engages in independent fiscal and policy analysis and public education with the goal of improving public policies affecting the economic and social well-being of low and middle income Californians." |
