Archdiocese of SF Plans a Year of "Prayers at the Gate"

January 6, 2017

The Restorative Ministry of The Archdiocese of San Francisco is joining with the San Francisco Sheriff's Department of Religious Services and other Faith Leaders to host twice monthly days of prayer at the County Jail #5 in San Bruno.

On the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, between 8:30 am and 2:00 pm, the coalition will be visiting with and praying for those who are incarcerated. They will also pray with and for the families of inmates that they receive the care and attention they need. The goal is to strengthen children and families as they struggle to rebuild their lives.

Background checks are not required to be at the jail facility entrance in San Bruno, only your commitment to accompany families in need of prayers.
The San Francisco County Jail # 5 is located at 1 Moreland Drive in San Bruno. Julio Escobar, Director of the Office of Restorative Justice for the diocese, welcomes Catholics across the area to participate. "If you can’t make it there," he says, "here's another way you can put your Faith into Action— use these suggested Intercession Prayers at home or ask to have them printed in your church bulletin."
