The Padres Unidos Community Intervention Workers (CIW) Cohort graduation was held at Chapman University this past Saturday, June 2, 2018.
8 of these 40 graduates are participants of the CCHD funded Padres Unidos parent project in the Diocese of Orange. The other 32 graduates are affiliated with a Padres Unidos contract in partnership with the Santa Ana Unified School District. These are parents Padres Unidos works with in the school system, separate from the work done through the CCHD projects in Orange.
The CIW certification was an intense two year course without summer break. Thanks to CCHD, Chapman University, and Padres Unidos, the 8 graduates will put their new skills and experience to work at their local parish locations and be role models and instructors with the Diocese of Orange's ongoing Padres Unidos CCHD projects.
"Our graduates have overcome very personal and insurmountable challenges in changing the culture of their once dysfunctional family system and their time and effort in completing the CIW Cohort. Words and photos alone do not describe the depth of joy I witnessed on this blessed graduation day. Their lives changed will never be the same again – thanks be to God." -Julio Escobar, Director of Restorative Justice/Detention Ministry
Those handing out the graduation certificates in the photos are Congressman Lou Correa and O.C. Chief of Probation Steve Sentman.
