Re-entry Conference and Resource Fair Serves Formerly Incarcerated People and Their Families

October 13, 2016

The Third Annual Re-entry Conference and Resource Fair in San Francisco on October 1, 2016, drew over 30 exhibitors offering many post-incarceration resources. An estimated 250 people attended. "Our objective is to connect people with the support they need to come out of prison and stay out," said Julio Escobar, Director of Restorative Justice for the Archdiocese. The workshops and participating organizations provided a full day of honest discussion about the issues that directly impact formerly incarcerated people and their families.

Mike Farrell, President of the Board for Death Penalty Focus and longtime activist, was the keynote speaker. Farrell called for an end to the death penalty in California with these words. “There is an inevitable, inescapable consequence associated with the taking of a human life. The person being killed pays a price, of course, but what price is paid for those doing the killing? What is the cost to the society that hires people to kill for them?"
