Cristina Hernandez

Cristina brings 18 years of work in social justice in the San Francisco Bay Area with experience in parish ministry and faith formation, as well as in poverty alleviation and public policy strategies. She has served as California Correspondent for Tierramérica, a United Nations for the Environmental Protection publication, Cooperative Network Manager with the Women’s Action to Gain Economic Security and Director of Education and Employment Services with Catholic Charities of the East Bay. Cristina is originally from Quito, Ecuador and holds a degree in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Quito, with an emphasis in Environmental Economics. She joined the Diocese of Oakland’s Office for Life and Justice in September of 2015 and serves on several boards including the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and Catholic Charities of the East Bay. Cristina is a Guadalupana who deeply enjoys tapping into her mestiza and immigrant culture to inform her work and ministry.
